You all know that Microsoft Dynamics NAV is optimized to run on Azure. And that it is possible to integrate with Office 365. But do you know where to start and what exactly is behind the screens? From a technical point of view? If not, then this workshop is for you.
This workshop provides knowledge about running Microsoft Dynamics NAV on Azure. It will also familiarise you with the integration touch points between Office 365, SharePoint Online and Dynamics NAV.
During hands-on labs you will create a Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation on Azure based on the demo virtual machine image that is available in the Azure image gallery. You will configure Single Sign On with Office 365. And what’s more, you don’t only learn how to configure it, but you will also get insight in the underlying architecture. And you will learn how to embed and integrate Dynamics NAV with SharePoint Online using SharePoint web apps en webparts.
The ideal profile for this workshop is a technical consultant or developer with experience in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 / 2016 and awareness knowledge of Office 365.
To follow this course you need an active subscription on Azure and Office 365. During the training you will need Visual Studio to create the SharePoint web app. Instructions will be send two weeks before the training.
For this training it is not needed to have .Net coding skills.
Short introduction to Microsoft Azure platform and an overview of its components, including the management portal.
Set up a Dynamics NAV environment on Azure using the available Virtual Machine images.
Dynamics NAV 2016 supports Azure SQL. It will be explained how to set this up and the students will do a lab to install a Dynamics NAV database on Azure SQL.
Short introduction to Office 365 and the different parts that it contains. Also the user management will be discussed.
Dynamics NAV offers the possibility to export directly to Excel Online and SharePoint Online, so export will be available with the Web Client. Students will do a lab to set this up.
Dynamics NAV can be set up to send emails using Exchange Online. This part will discuss how to set this up.
This part will explain the relationship between Office 365 and Microsoft Azure and. On the Dynamics NAV DVD a PowerShell script is available to automatically set up Single Sign On with Office 365. The script will be discussed and used in a lab.
The Dynamics NAV Web Client can be integrated in SharePoint Online in different ways, enabling complete NAV portals in SharePoint. This will be discussed and demonstrated, followed by a lab to do it yourself.
